White brothers and sisters:
Before you get all sensitive about my use of the word “cracker,” please read the passage below. If you still feel offended at the end, by all means respond to this entry and we can dialouge from there. Big thanks to the brilliant Chris Rock for the idea…
*ahem*
There’s a lotta racial sh*t going on now with white people in America. There is a civil war going on with white people, and there’s two sides: There’s White people, and there’s crackers. And crackers have got to go. Every time white people try to make the world a better place, some ignorant ass crackers go and f*ck it up.
Can’t do sh*t in this world without crackers f*cking it up. Can’t get a bill passed to give poor children free healthcare. Can’t get equal rights for gay and lesbian people. Can’t travel to Cuba, why, because crackers are detaining American citizens and fining them up the ass… it happened to me.
And mind you, it is very, very confusing because while all crackers are white people, not all white people are crackers. And man, I got love for white people but I haaate crackers blud. Im so f*cking tired of crackers – let me tell you. ‘Cause crackers are the type of people to say “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!” Then turn around and tell their kids, “Jesus died because of Jewish people.” Crackers will work in a public school and say some shit like, “I’m all for diversity in education, but there is way too much Spanish speaking going on here.”
Crackers who live next door to you will laugh their asses off at William Hung on TV while eating take-out sushi & sporting a tattoo of the Chinese character for “truth” on their arm. A cracker’ll say “give that animal the death penalty!” and call themselves “pro-life.” They’ll listen to the T.I. CD in their car and know all the lyrics, but roll up their windows and lock their doors the second a Black person comes around.
And yo, there is nothing a thoughtful White person hates more than a ignorant ass cracker. A white dude who was raised poor or working class around people of color haaaaates seeing Bill O’Reilly on TV talking bout “who would’ve ever thought a black restaurant could be civilized like a white restaurant?” A gay white girl hates crackers, because crackers are the type to burn crosses and hold hate meetings, while wearing “what would Jesus do?” Bands on their arms. Yadadaidig?
So this is for all the white people out there that aren’t crackers. Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Amy Goodman, Jon Stewart, Bono, everyone up in Green Day, Ernest Hemmingway, Jack Kerouac, Ellen Degenres, William Wallace, Will Ferrel, Chris Farley, Jim Carey, Barack Obama’s Mama, Al Pacino, Chris Mullin, Andris Beidrins and Marco Belinelli (go warriors), Jim Carroll, Amy Winehouse, Adam Mansbach, Marshall Mathers (yeah I said it), Harvey Milk, JFK, Paul Wall baby, the homies: erythean, fritz, sandi, isaac, my godfather DJ, my mama, my grandparents and any person of European ancestry that does more than just refuses to be a cracker, because it can’t stop there.
We need you all to be more courageous than you have been in the past. I understand that a carrot is dangled in front of your face everyday. Our leaders would have you believe that you are superior in order to keep power in the hands of those that posses it. I am hoping you will behave as a true child of God and the Earth and see that it’s time to step your collective game up.
People of color, women, immigrants, non-Christians, gays, lesbians and poor people are counting on you intelligent White people to help keep these crackers from killing us all. Do what you can, we’ll do the same.
And republicans-I mean police-*ahem Im sorry…crackers: in the words of Mahatma Ghandi: “What the f*ck is wrong with yall? We just chilling, why the f*ck you coming up in here where we live and f*cking with us? Calm down blud!”
Rush Limbaugh: Cracker (saltine brand in fact).
R.I.P. Grandpa Bob. Thank you for teaching me the difference between White PEOPLE and Crackers.
Senbeez.
I need to talk about why November and December are going to amazing for Hip-Hop. Jay-Z’s American Gangster is taking it back to the Reasonable Doubt days, Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool is going to change Hip-Hop forever because there is no emcee with more smarts, and Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III will murder everyone in the Rap game except the two forementioned. I am so excited that Hip-Hop is awakening and come Christmas, these Mr. Potato-Head, plastic-rap jerkfaces better tuck they chain like DJ Pooh (“My grandmama gave me that chain!”). Don’t believe me? Watch for yourself!

I can’t remember the last time someone made a song about things being all lovely. This video by the beautiful, talented, fantabulous Alicia Keyes (mixed peoples like YEE!) just puts a smile on your face no matter who you are. Her album “As I am” drops soon and u gots to cop it. Ask about it, see if they aint heard…
I was looking through democracynow.org today and came across some sickening sh*t. Apparently FEMA (remember them Louisiana?) staged a FAKE News Conference in regards to the California Wildfires that have displaced thousands of people. FEMA ran the faux press-conference on Tuesday, October 23rd with some of their own staffers posing as journalists!!!
FEMA gave REAL reporters only 15 minutes notice before they began the press conference, allowing them to listen in on the reports, but not to ask any questions.
I’m beginning to become so cynical and untrusting of the current administration, that conspiracy theorists who used to yell about man never going to the moon or Bush bombing the world trade center himself, are beginning to make sense to me.
Until the U.S. Government gives me a reason to trust them at all, I will not believe a single word that comes from the mouths of these bumbleclot republicrats…And that’s word to Bill Clinton’s Cuban Cigar. Yadadaismell me?
Arundhati Roy has been one of my sheroes for a long time. She is a writer, from New Delhi, India and her first (and only) novel “The God of Small Things,” was awarded and given tremendous praise a few years back. I first heard of her in college when I read “Power Politics,” a collection of her essays discussing economic exploitation by the United States (as well as other world powers) of poor nations and the disparities that it creates. She is insanely brave and intelligent in the ways she takes on coorporate globalization.
Roy’s speech “Come September” given in 2004 put thoughts into my head that have significantly changed the way I think about Amerika and the rest of the world everyday. I strongly reccomend you buy her books and listen to as much as you can from this insightful, beautiful, fearless and righteous global citizen.
Sister Arundhati I salute you, appreciate your vast courage and when I feel weak, find myself asking: “What Would Arundhati Do?”
If you haven’t seen this video yet, it’s time to step ur youtube game up. Hip-Hop for me, goes back and forth, running the gamut between being a weapon that challenges capitalistic oppression to being an agent of that oppression.
Chamillionaire earned my deep respect by making such a political video in a day and age when “realness” in Hip-Hop is equated to who operates with the least amount of compassion/thoughtfulness. While Hip-Hop works as a mirror to Amerika, it sometimes gets the most amount of attention and monetary backing when it alludes to violence, self-hate, and mysoginy. This vid is truly a breath of fresh air.
Watch for Ricky D. (Slick Rick to those who don’t know) making a stupendous cameo in this badboy! Cham as Bill O’Wildy cracks me up at the end too. F*ck that bumbleclot FOX news bullsh*t str8 up and down.
“This is your evening news…”

I don’t watch a lot of TV religiously but besides the Warriors, there is one show I really can’t get enough of. “Grey’s Anatomy,” is one of the most thought-provoking dramas I have ever seen on TV. It has a diverse cast of amazing actors, and the writing is something out of a Paolo Coehlo novel, with twists, turns and lfe lessons galore.
It takes place in Seattle, WA and truly displays the depth of human beings, our feelings, emotions, cowardice and heroics. From Dr. Yang’s Middle-Class, Asian-Amerikan internalized patterns of being cold and detatched, to Dr. Bailey’s take-no-bullsh*t-from-anyone-who-tries-to-sell-it-to-her-beause-she’s-a-black-woman stance of bravado, this show is the str8 jumpoff.
If ur tired of “reality” TV and wanna see some reality on TV, holla at Grey’s Anatomy, Thursday 9-10pm. If u don’t know u better ask somebody. (Click this post to watch FREE episodes online. AYE!)
Last week, South African Reggae Star Lucky Dube was murdered in front of his children by hijackers attempting to steal his car. It was incredibly sad news for me. I grew to love Lucky’s music when I lived in Ghana (find a map) during 2003-2004. His music was very influential and even banned during apartheid in South Africa. While some labeled him a “commercial rasta,” there is no doubting his passion, charisma and musical talent. He will be missed, but his art will live forever. Thank you Lucky Dube. Jah bless you brother.
I was at Moe’s Books on Telegraph in Berkeley and I came across a copy of Noam Chomsky’s “Hegemony or Survival” for $8 and couldn’t afford NOT TO BUY IT. =) The book is about The US’s quest for complete global domination in regards to capital & economy and how the war in Iraq is yet another chapter in the alienation of the rest of the world.
An excerpt reads:
“Through all the shifts of justifications and pretexts, one principal remains invariant: The United States must end up in effective control of Iraq, under some facade of democracy if that proves feasible. Bush has sought to share the costs, but not the power, in postwar Iraq. Washington must be in charge, not the United Nations, not the Iraqi people.”
A brilliant and thoughtful, old white guy is a huge contradition in the world I live in, and Chomsky’s writings are a breath of fresh air. This book echoes the thoughts of my SHERO Arundhati Roy when she says: “The American way of life is NOT sustainable, because it does not ackowledge that there is a world beyond America.”
*putting fist in the air*,

p.s. “Hegemony or Survival” was recommended reading by (the sometimes loco, but always thoughtful) Venezualan President, Hugo Chavez.
Yessurr.
This Tuesday, October 30, 2007 The run ‘n gun Golden State (Oakland) Warriors will be set to play a rematch against the Utah (I don’t know why they’re called the) Jazz slow paced, yet hard-nosed offense.
I’ve spoken about this with a bunch of the homeboys recently, but it seems that ever since the DUBs lost to these fools in last years playoffs, my life has kind of gone downhill. With Bay Area Baseball & Football behaving like Mike Dunleavy Jr. I along with many others have longed for Baron, Jack, MB, Monta, Al and Andris to come back to our rescue.
This season, regardless of hype (Jack being benched for shooting outside of stripclubs) or disappointment (J-Rich being traded away after working for years to make the DUBs a respectable franchise), the 07-08 season promises to be exciting. The eastbay has longed (13 years) for hope and after last season’s playoff run, we finally have some. The bandwagon fans make me sick to my stomach but its comes with the territory when you have a reputible ball club.
I’m looking for Al Harrington to step up big this year, and after coming to training camp in the best shape of his life look to him and Matt Barnes (new team captain!) to fight for the 6th man of the year award/5th starter. It’s a win-win here if you ask me. Coach Nellie is challening his players to rebound better this year, but if you ask me his “organized chaos” playoff playbook, coupled with the fact that Jack, Harrington, Barnes, (the rest of the team) have never rebounded well, means we need to continue pouring in the points and hoping we have more than the other team at the end of the game. (If you have a better idea, by all means holla!)
While Baron remains the heart of our squadron, I also look to Monta Ellis to mature and eventually become the team’s leader at the point when Baron retires or leaves. While Ellis pretty much vanished like a fart in the wind during the playoffs last year, I believe he will return hungry. ‘Cause If he doesn’t my boy Kelena Azibukie seems ready to go, absolutely dominating during the pre-season. Marco Bellineli looks good but it’s too early to tell how he will adjust to the NBA.
With Stephen Jackson out for the first 7 games, he will need to be very vocal on the bench and work hard in practice to stay on point. He seems to love playing here and with his leadership and brilliant defense (whutitdo Dirk! = MVP: Most Vanished in Payoffs) he is an incredible asset. My only hope is that his hyphy days are over. Jack told reporters he shot his gun in the air because he felt his life was threatened and it was necessary. BLUD, being at a strip club at 4 in the AM when you are a millionaire is NOT NECESSARY. Jack coulda had the damn strip club come to him.
ANYHOO. To summise it all: I cannot wait to sit on my couch, drink a cold one, eat something delicious/bad for me and scream my head off at weakass Matt Harpring and cro-magnon looking Carlos Boozer. If Baron posterizes Kirilenko again I will lose my f*cking mind. Here’s to an exciting season of hope for Bay Area Hoops faithfuls. YEE!
