“Come September,” is one of, if not THE greatest speeches I have ever heard. Arundhati Roy is my SHERO and I pray that I may someday be 1/1,000 of the human being that she is. If you have the time, I highly recommend that you watch this speech in its entirety, hear her words and read her literature. I truly cannot say enough about this woman. She has literally changed my life and the way I go about thinking in terms of oppression, Amerikan imperialsm, globalization and our ever changing world. It was in many ways, her words that spawned “The Literary Ca(n)non” Hip-Hop Project I recently completed with my brothers Akiyoshi & Kumar.

I am in awe of your brilliance Sister Roy. Please never stop writing, thinking, speaking out and destroying hatred. The God of Small Things, GOES.
With deep respect and love,
Colin Masashi Ehara
Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.

Geah. GOSM goes. I actuallly kinda like her essays even more. Check out “War Talk,” “An Ordinary Person’s Guide to Empire,” and “Power Politics.” Amazing stuff.

It’s hard living in a country where i have to dig to get myself out of mountains of hegemonic garbage that are heaped on top of me every second of every day. Shit like this is what puts me back in place, how i am reminded of context in a country of denial, escape and injustice. I had never heard Arundhati Roy speak nor read any of her work, but she had me teary eyes by part two and again at the end of her speech. Good looking on that post C.
Peace.

Yeah she’s amazing. I think (I may be wrong) that I gave you that speech on one of the mp3 cds I burned for you. If I didn’t, Ill put it on the next one. U can always borrow some of her literature from me too if ur interested.

Whenever I’m feeling like everything is lost, I read her sh*t and listen to her speeches. She is a constant reminder of the capabilities of the human imagination and spirit. I really cant say enough about her.
